Writer / Lyricist / Composer

Taiyo is an Irish-Japanese writer, lyricist, and composer based in London.

His play Gormire was workshopped at the Young Vic in March 2026 with Julie Hesmondhalgh, Maddie Rice, Nia Towle, and Oliver Maynard.

His family musical, Layla & Captain Doom, was showcased at ‘BEAM2025’ at the Birmingham Hippodrome.

His musical Chosen went on a regional UK tour in 2024 as part of The Lowry’s ‘Rewrites’ programme. Prior to that it was showcased at The Other Palace as part of ‘Musical Bites’ and at The Oxford Playhouse as part of ‘BEAM2023’.

His short film Pretty Hands (2023) was an official selection in 27 film festivals, winning 7 of them. His short film HOME won Centerframe’s 2024 ‘Get It Made’ competition.

He worked as a Script Editor at Mammoth Screen before completing a playwriting course at the National Theatre and graduating from London Film School with a Master’s Degree in Screenwriting.
